Audi A6 Security360° protection

Success attracts attention. People in prominent positions are the centre of attention. It is especially in areas with a high street-crime rate that there is an increased security risk. Audi would like to restore part of the quality of life which these people have lost by giving them something vital back – their mobility. For example, with the Audi A6 4.2 quattro Security with integrated ballistic protection for the bullet-proof class VR4 (Euronorm), which comes straight from the factory.

Armouring straight from the factory

The Audi A6 Security was especially developed to improve protection of its occupants in the face of crime on the streets. This includes the use of mechanical force such as striking weapons and gunfire from hand weapons (pistols and revolvers). The Audi A6 Security is one of the few vehicles tested which has official certification from a German firearms testing centre.

The engineers at Audi only use particularly high-strength materials which can withstand high levels of mechanical and ballistic force. Aramide fibre is also used along with high-strength steel and reinforced glass.

Additional protection is provided for the occupants by the overlapping steel and glass panels on all joints – a feature which has been especially developed by Audi.

Powerful and dynamic

In the critical moments of a criminal street attack the driver not only has to be able to rely on the armouring of his vehicle, he also has to be able to rely on its equally important handling characteristics. The Audi A6 is therefore equipped with quattro permanent four-wheel drive to meet this challenge. Despite being an armoured saloon car, the powerful 4.2-litre eight-cylinder engine of the Audi A6 Security enables the car to provide a high level of driving pleasure and makes high reserves of power available in critical situations.

Optional extras

You can make your Audi A6 Security even safer if you wish. With the PAX run-flat system you can continue your journey even if the tyres are damaged – for a distance of approx. 50 kilometres and at a speed of up to 80 km/h. The non-magnetic floor armouring, which can withstand the fragmentation effect of DM 51-type hand grenades, completes the external protection of the A6 Security. Armour-plating on the fuel tank and battery provides extra protection for these important components. The hazard alarm in the car’s interior draws attention to the vehicle in the event of an emergency and the intercom system allows you to speak to people outside the car, even when the windows are closed. A particularly interesting extra is the discrete strongbox in the luggage compartment which is large enough for a briefcase.
